Hello Sacred Heart friends, families, and supporters! Below is an update from Ms. Williams regarding Sacred Heart School's approach to keeping our students and staff safe for the 2020-21 school year:

"July 6, 2020

Dear Sacred Heart Families,

I hope you all had a happy and healthy 4th of July. It is hard to believe that we are planning to return to school in 6 weeks! As of now, the plan is still to return to school on August 17th and hopefully beat the second surge of the Covid-19 virus. I say this knowing that things might change between July 6th and August 17th. However, we must prepare for opening safely whether we open in August or September. This letter is written to give you an idea of what we are doing to prepare the school for your child’s return and to give you an idea of what to expect.

Right now, we are preparing the classrooms so we can socially distance in each classroom. We removed much of the group tables, rugs, and additional furniture. This way we can spread out the students’ desks and keep surfaces to the minimum.

All students and staff will be required to have their temperature taken before entering the building and halfway through the day. All students, staff, and visitors must wear a mask throughout the day. I suggest that you have your children practice wearing a mask for periods of time so they will be used to them when they return. Anyone who displays signs of any type of sickness will be sent home and may not return until they are 24 hours symptom free. Please have a plan for pick up and childcare should your child be sent home.

We are purchasing large amounts of soap and hand sanitizer for the school. Cleaning and maintenance will be increased. We are building a nurse’s office that will be private and if students/staff are ill, they will be separated from others.

We continue to learn many rules and protocols as we go along. We are waiting to find out more about busing and possible changes in scheduling. We do plan on having our aftercare program up and running by the 24th of August. With the possibility of a second surge of the virus coming in the fall or winter months, we might have another year of both in school and remote learning. The teachers will be prepared to continue a high quality of instruction no matter where the students are each day.

Moving forward, I will be sending out frequent emails and posting updates on our web site. I will do my best to keep you well informed with the information I have. There is still a great deal of information to be given to us. I appreciate your support and patience. The school office is open Monday- Thursday from 9-2 if you have any questions or concerns please call or email us and we will do our best to help.

Enjoy the remainder of your summer!
Take Care and God Bless!
Ms. Williams"
